Copyleft
In the 1980s software activist Richard Stallman proposed the term copyleft—all rights reversed—as a rebuttal to the traditional legal label, copyright—all rights reserved. Copyleft ensures that a program, or other creative work, will remain free, despite any modifications made to it by volunteer programmers.
