November lunch for Richard Olney, 1986
9.5 x 13 in; linocut image; janson type; rives heavyweight paper
“Printing this menu was an exciting breakthrough for me. My Chandler & Price press prints one color at a time. The ink is spread on a round disk at the top of the press, the rollers pass over the ink plate to pick up more ink as the press closes, clamshell like, and the block and paper meet. The press opens, the rollers pass down over the block, the printed sheet is removed, a blank sheet is put in, the rollers start back up over the block, and the cycle repeats.”
